UK Timber Industry Certification Report

The TTF have recently commissioned a report which examines the penetration of certification schemes in the imported, home, panel and harvesting sectors. It revealed that in 2008 over 80% of wood and wood products coming into the UK were certified.

Environmental Market Outlook

The TTF undertakes market research into legal and sustainable timber, using industry analysts such as Forest Industries Intelligence and Timber Trends, and makes this information available to Members and their suppliers. TTF also monitors market drivers through frequent interaction with a wide range of national and international organisations, such as governments, NGOs and customers with environmental interests.

Monthly Statistics

The TTF supplies the only authoritative timber import statistics for the UK, published on a monthly basis in an interesting and easy to digest format. Data provided through agencies appointed by HM Revenue & Customs may be prone to errors and omissions. However, the TTF has the experience, expertise and contacts to ensure this information is analysed and corrected before their figures are published. The monthly breakdown by product categories and source provide our Members with an invaluable means to assess market trends and adjust buying strategies accordingly.

Timber in Context – An Annual Review

The TTF publishes an Annual Statistical Review of the Industry, widely available to the many groups with an interest, including local, regional and national Government, the European Union and international bodies. The statistics provided help to promote wood as a sustainable industry which can deliver tangible benefits to the UK economy.

Our increasing portfolio of statistical data builds on import and UK production figures to deliver specialist reports, such as information on the market share for environmental Chain of Custody products. Members can also access the services of Timbertrends, our specialist statistical partner, who can provide a tailor made statistical and market intelligence service at a TTF discounted rate.

On-Line Members’ Directory and Buyers’ Guide

The TTF website provides Members with the opportunity to promote their businesses to an ever growing on-line audience. Space is provided for each Member’s site to display its own logo, list contacts and location details (including a map facility); detailing the product categories stocked. Search facilities allow potential customers to locate Members by name, location or product type.

Contract Forms

The TTF provides a number of internationally recognised contract forms for Members. Following a successful launch of the Softwood Contract “NORSOF” (2005), we can also offer Members the Panel Products Contract “PANPRO” (2008). We also operate a Contract Licensing Scheme for Members wishing to use their own identity when issuing contracts, whilst still operating within the contract terms.
