TTF Initiates Indonesian Forestry Cooperation
The Timber Trade Federation has contacted the Indonesian Plywood Association (APKINDO) and the Japanese Federation of Woodworking Industries Association requesting cooperation between the three countries timber industries in delivering the aims of the Forestry Law Enforcement Conference, which was held in Bali in September.
The Timber Trade Federation has been in discussions with the UK government (DEFRA and DFID) over the way it can assist in combating illegal logging in East Asia. The three national governments in Japan, Indonesia and the UK are committed to encouraging sustainable forestry.
The UK government has requested that the UK trade play its part in tackling this problem, which is why the TTF has approached its counterparts in Japan and Indonesia over ways in which through cooperation, mutual benefits can be delivered.
